Forbes lists some interesting and perhaps tongue-in-cheek ways that you can be a victim of identity theft. Some of these things you can control – for example, file your taxes electronically and not on paper. However, the moral of the story seems to be that no matter what you do, there are corrupt people who may break into databases that house your private, confidential information. That said, be smart about sharing your data to and consider an identity theft service such as LifeLock to monitor and help you recover if your identity is stolen.
