I found this Forbes article fascinating about intuition as a form of intelligence by Bruce Kassanoff.

Kassanoff states that if you do “a deep dive into a subject and study numerous possibilities, you are exercising intelligence when your gut instinct tells you what is – and isn’t – important.”  He also cites Gard Gigerenzer, author of the book Gut Feelings: The Intelligence of the Unconscious, that intuition is less about suddenly “knowing” the right answer and more about instinctively understanding what information is unimportant and can thus be discarded.

I call this “informed intuition.”  Have you ever investigated a situation, completed a thorough analysis and not known the answer immediately?  Then later, perhaps when you’re walking the dog or taking a shower, you allow sub-conscious or “intuition” to tell you the answer?  Intuition is real and powerful.  It works best when it is informed.  Otherwise, it’s merely a guess.

Don’t ignore your intuition after you have spent time studying the situation.  By tapping into both your analytical mind and your intuition, you are more likely to make better decisions.  This goes for your professional and your personal life.  For more information, schedule a meeting by clicking below, contact Joni Lindquist –jlindquist@makinglifecount.com, or call (913) 345-1881.
