Frequently Asked Questions
Why work with a fiduciary?
When you work with a fiduciary, you are ensured — by law — that the financial professional will prioritize your best interests above their own. This eliminates concerns about conflicts of interest, biased incentives, and pushy sales tactics.
How do you charge for your services? What is fee-only?
As a fee-only financial advisor, our compensation comes directly from you, our client. We do not sell any products or accept commissions in any form.
For comprehensive financial planning services, we charge a flat fee or an hourly rate, depending on the complexity of your situation. When managing your investments, we charge a percentage of assets under management, which allows our compensation to align with your financial success.
You’ll receive a detailed breakdown of our fees during our initial consultation, ensuring you have a clear understanding of costs associated with our services before making any commitments.
Do you have a minimum account?
No. We believe our services can be of value to anyone committed to growing their wealth.
While we don’t have a strict minimum asset requirement, having at least $100,000 gives you a solid foundation for growing your wealth.
Where are my assets held?
Your assets are held with Charles Schwab, a reputable third-party custodian. This arrangement provides an added layer of security and transparency. As your advisor, we have the authority to manage these assets based on our agreed-upon strategy, but we never have direct access to your funds. You’ll receive regular statements directly from Charles Schwab, allowing you to independently verify your holdings and transactions.
Will you work with my accountant/lawyer?
Yes, with your permission we will always work with your other advisors. In fact, we strongly advise that we should work as a team on their behalf.
Why do I need a financial plan?
A financial plan is the hub for achieving your goals and securing your future. It details your current situation and a personalized strategy to help you reach your unique objectives. Your financial plan provides the foundation for making all other financial decisions, such as investing, budgeting, saving, debt management and retirement planning.
Can you help me get and keep organized?
Yes! We will help you build a framework to organize all of the pieces of your financial picture, tying them together and putting some coordination around them, so that you can see how each decision you make affects all the other areas of your financial life.
Your financial planner helps you stay on track to reach your goals by helping you make smart decisions about all aspects of your finances efficiently and at the most effective times of life.
What is the CEFT designation?
A Certified Financial Transitionist (CeFT) helps you navigate through major life events and the financial implications that come with them. They can help you discover that changing circumstances don’t have to be all negative and stressful, but also an opportunity for growth and renewal.
